WHY MAINTAIN
Maintenance only works when the same accountable people show up year after year. Fesmire began as a father's company and is now run by his son, so the technician tuning up your furnace answers to a family that plans to be here for the next heating season too. Our company story shows where we came from.
A furnace burns fuel and sends combustion gases out of your home, so a tune-up is as much about safety as it is about comfort. We inspect the burners, the flue and venting and the heat exchanger area, and we tell you plainly if anything we see affects safety. That is the difference between a glance at the equipment and a real tune-up.
As an Armstrong Air ProTeam contractor, we know Armstrong Air furnaces closely, and we also install York equipment. Your furnace does not have to be either one. We maintain any brand, including furnaces another contractor installed or that came with the house, and we plan each visit around the make and model you tell us about.
Each maintenance visit ends with a report of what we measured, what we cleaned and what we recommend next. You see the condition of your furnace in plain language, which makes it easier to plan ahead instead of reacting when the heat stops. Keep each report, and you build a history that any technician can use.
We put the needs of our customers first and work with you every step of the way. If a tune-up uncovers a worn part, we explain what it is, why it matters and what your options are before anything else happens, and nothing moves forward until you understand it and say yes.
Fesmire has been installing and servicing heating and cooling equipment since 2000, and that adds up to 25+ years of service. Veterans and seniors receive 10% off when they mention it, and every detail is on our Specials & Coupons page.
Our Maintenance Plans
Regular maintenance is the simplest way to protect your equipment. A system that gets checked before the season starts is far less likely to fail on the hottest or coldest day of the year in Pueblo. We offer maintenance plans for Pueblo-area homes.
Our residential maintenance covers the systems we install and service, including air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, mini-splits, and package units. Tune-ups help your equipment run efficiently, and they give us the chance to catch small problems before they become expensive ones.
OUR TUNE-UP PROCESS
A tune-up starts with a conversation, because how your home heated last winter tells us where to look first.
Soot and dust gather on the combustion side, and a dirty burner assembly is a common reason a furnace misfires or shuts down. We clean before we test so the readings that follow are accurate.
This is the safety step. The heat exchanger keeps combustion gases separate from the air your family breathes, and the venting carries those gases out of your home.
A furnace has to move heat through your home and shut itself down if something goes wrong. We test both jobs and then run the furnace through complete cycles.
We finish by putting what we measured and noticed in writing, so you are never left guessing about the condition of your furnace. Ready for a report on your own furnace? Call (719) 240-5109 to book your tune-up and tell us about your equipment, and ask how our residential maintenance plan can make yearly care a habit.

COMMON QUESTIONS
A furnace tune-up covers the combustion side and the airflow side of the system. We clean and inspect the burners, igniter and flame sensor, examine the flue and venting, look over the heat exchanger area, test the blower, controls and safety switches, and run complete heating cycles. You then receive a written report of what we found, so you know where your furnace stands before the heating season begins.
The best time is before the heating season begins, while the furnace is idle and any worn part can be addressed before you depend on it every day. Fall is the natural choice, though a visit at any other time of year is still useful. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm, so call (719) 240-5109 and we will get you scheduled.
Furnaces burn fuel and vent combustion gases, so a tune-up includes a close look at the burners, the flue pipe and the heat exchanger area for soot, corrosion, gaps or damage. We report anything that affects safety in plain language. Please also keep working carbon monoxide detectors in your home, because maintenance lowers risk but a detector is your last line of protection.
Follow the filter manufacturer's directions and check the filter regularly through the heating season, since a clogged filter restricts airflow and makes the blower work harder. Replace it when it looks dirty, and more often if your home has pets or a lot of dust. We inspect the filter at every tune-up and tell you when it needs replacing.
A light, dusty smell on the first heating cycle is common, because dust that settled on the burners and heat exchanger over the idle months can burn off as the furnace warms. A tune-up clears much of that dust beforehand. If the odor lingers or comes with soot or a yellow flame, turn the furnace off and call us. If you smell gas, leave and call your gas utility from outside.
We cannot promise a specific savings figure, and no honest contractor can. What we can say is that a clean furnace with unrestricted airflow and well-adjusted components runs the way it was designed to, which helps it use fuel efficiently. A dirty filter, sooty burners or a struggling blower do the opposite. Your written report shows what we found and what we cleaned or corrected.
We show you what we see and explain it in everyday language, because a damaged heat exchanger is a safety concern. We lay out your options, which may include repair or replacement depending on what we find, and nothing proceeds until you understand it and agree. Both furnace repair and furnace installation are services we provide, with no surprises or hidden fees along the way.
Clear a path to the furnace and keep storage boxes, laundry and other items away from the cabinet. Locate the filter and note anything you have noticed, such as odd noises, uneven rooms or a change in your heating bill. If you know the brand and model, have them ready when you call (719) 240-5109. Our technicians come to your home, so you do not need to carry anything in.
Many homes pair a furnace and a central air conditioner that share a blower, ductwork and a thermostat, so both systems benefit from regular attention, and scheduling them together keeps your records in one place. Read about our air conditioning maintenance service and mention both systems when you call. We will talk through what makes sense for your equipment.
Southern Colorado winters are cold and the air is dry, so heated indoor air can feel drier still. A furnace tune-up keeps the heating side working as designed, and a humidifier helps balance indoor moisture. We install Honeywell humidifiers, and our humidifier and dehumidification page explains the options. Ask about it when we visit.
