Capacitor and Contactor Replacement
These electrical parts start your compressor and fan motors, and a failed one is a common reason a system hums but will not run. We test them and replace what has failed.

CHOOSE FESMIRE
Fesmire began as a father's company and is now run by his son, so a broken air conditioner is handled by people who answer personally for the result. That second-generation accountability means we treat your system the way we would treat our own, and you can read our company story to see where we came from.
A cooling problem can have several causes, and the symptom you notice is not always the part that failed. We trace the actual fault first and explain it clearly, so the repair you approve is aimed at the real problem rather than a guess.
As an Armstrong Air ProTeam contractor we know central systems well, and we also install York equipment. Whatever brand is cooling your home today, we can repair it. Tell us the make and model when you call and we will plan around it, and you can see everything we do for cooling in our air conditioning services overview.
We work with you every step of the way. Before any repair begins you hear what we found, what each option involves and what the work will take, so the decision stays in your hands and nothing catches you off guard afterward.
We have been installing and servicing heating and cooling equipment since 2000. That experience shows in how we read symptoms, trace electrical and refrigerant faults and give straight answers about whether a repair makes sense for your system.
Veterans and seniors receive 10% off when they mention it. It is the only special we run, and every detail is on our Specials & Coupons page, so you know exactly how to use it when you call.
WARNING SIGNS
If the system runs but the air from your vents feels warm or only mildly cool, something in the cooling cycle is not working. Common causes include low refrigerant from a leak, a failed capacitor or condenser fan, a compressor that is not engaging, or a dirty coil that cannot release heat. Each cause needs a different repair.
An air conditioner that starts, runs briefly and shuts off again is short cycling. The culprit can be restricted airflow, an iced-over coil, a refrigerant problem or a thermostat reading the room incorrectly. Short cycling wears out parts, especially the compressor and capacitor.
When the blower runs but only a trickle of air reaches the rooms, we look at the air filter, the blower motor, the evaporator coil and the ductwork. A clogged filter or coil is the simplest cause, while a failing blower motor or a collapsed duct section needs a technician.
Air conditioners hum and click as they operate, but grinding, squealing, buzzing or rattling means a part is struggling. Worn fan motor bearings, a loose blower wheel, a failing capacitor or a compressor under strain can each make their own sound. Turn the system off if the noise is harsh and call us before it causes further damage.
Ice on the refrigerant line or indoor coil points to restricted airflow or low refrigerant, and running the system while it is iced can harm the compressor. Water pooling around the indoor unit usually means a clogged condensate drain or an overflowing pan. Both signs call for a diagnosis.
If the thermostat is calling for cooling and nothing happens, the cause could be a tripped breaker, a failed contactor or capacitor, a bad control board or a thermostat fault. A breaker that trips repeatedly warns that an electrical component or motor is drawing too much power. Do not keep resetting it. Leave the system off and call us.
Many of these signs show up first during a heavy cooling season, and regular air conditioning maintenance through our residential maintenance plan helps catch them earlier.
OUR REPAIR PROCESS
Your description is the first diagnostic tool we use. We start by learning what the system has been doing and when the trouble began.
A central air conditioner has major components in two places, so we inspect both sides of the system instead of guessing from one.
Testing separates the part that actually failed from the symptoms it created, which keeps you from paying to replace something that was working.
Once we know the cause, we explain it in everyday language and let you decide how to proceed.
We finish by proving the repair worked and leaving you with a clear record of what was done.
Call us and we’ll start with step one.

REPAIRS WE HANDLE
These electrical parts start your compressor and fan motors, and a failed one is a common reason a system hums but will not run. We test them and replace what has failed.
If the outdoor fan is not spinning, the system cannot release heat and will shut down or cool poorly. We diagnose the motor, its capacitor and the wiring, then repair or replace what failed.
The compressor is the heart of the system, so we confirm it is truly the problem before recommending anything major. We explain your repair and replacement options openly.
Low refrigerant is a sign of a leak, not something that simply wears out. We locate the leak, repair it where practical and restore the charge.
A dirty, iced or leaking coil keeps your home from cooling properly. We clean, repair or replace the coil and look for the airflow or refrigerant problem that caused it.
Failed control boards, loose connections or damaged low-voltage wiring can keep a healthy system from starting. We trace the fault and repair the circuit.
A clogged drain line or cracked pan sends water into your home or shuts the system down. We clear the line and repair the pan.
A weak or noisy blower leaves rooms warm and puts the coil at risk. We repair or replace the motor and confirm airflow through the system.
Call us and we’ll find the cause first.

COMMON QUESTIONS
A running system that blows warm air usually points to an airflow or refrigerant problem, a failed capacitor or fan motor, or a compressor that is not engaging. A clogged filter or dirty coil can also be the cause. Turn the system off, check your filter, and call us at (719) 240-5109 so we can diagnose the actual cause.
Short cycling can come from restricted airflow, a refrigerant problem, a failing component or a thermostat that is reading the room incorrectly. The pattern matters, because each cause leaves different clues. We watch a full cycle, check the electrical and refrigerant sides, and explain which fault is behind it before we recommend any repair.
Ice usually means the evaporator coil is not getting enough warm air across it, often from a dirty filter, a blocked return or a weak blower, or from low refrigerant. Running the system while it is iced can damage the compressor, so turn it off and let the ice melt. Then call us to find out why it formed.
Often it is, when the problem is a single component and the rest of the system is in good shape. It becomes harder to justify when repairs keep recurring or several parts are showing wear. We give you an honest assessment of both paths, and if replacement makes more sense, we explain your options without pressure.
Yes. We repair any brand of central air conditioner, regardless of who installed it. Armstrong Air and York systems are familiar to us, and other manufacturers' equipment is just as welcome. When you call, share the make and model if you can find them on the outdoor unit's data label, and we will plan the visit around that.
Confirm the thermostat is set to cool, make sure the air filter is clean and check that the breaker has not tripped. Also clear leaves and debris away from the outdoor unit. If none of that helps, leave the system off and call us during business hours so we can diagnose what is happening inside the equipment.
Yes. We provide heat pump repair for ducted systems and ductless mini-split repair, along with central air conditioner repair, and we service any brand. Each system type has its own components and diagnostics, so we keep those services separate to make sure the right approach is used for yours. Call (719) 240-5109 and tell us what you have.
Yes. After we diagnose the problem, we explain what failed, what the repair involves and what options you have. You decide how to proceed, and nothing starts until you understand the plan. That is how we keep our commitment to no surprises or hidden fees. You can request a quote for the work whenever you are ready.
Yes. We provide heating, air conditioning and heat pump service for mobile and modular homes, and those systems often have different configurations than a site-built house. Visit our mobile and modular home HVAC page to see how we approach them, or call and describe your setup so we can plan the repair.
When you call, describe what the system is doing, when you first noticed it and what you have already tried. Share the brand and model if you know them. Reach us at (719) 240-5109 Monday through Friday between 7am and 4pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday, and we will get you scheduled.
